OLDTOWN

In memory of Major John and Clare de Burgh

I know a place

Where wild flowers gather

Where mist sits on a pond

And swallows top the daffodils

Where names of lovers intertwine on trees

And soft water falls a torrent

Where Patrick sat and blessed

Our people and the oak

Where redwing winter

And Derby winners turn a foot

Where Princes walk alone and pray

Their God is ours too

Where tranquillity is everywhere

In the  sun and in the falling rain
