My sister Jo and I went to the bog

My sister Jo and I

Went to the bog

To turn turf

After some turning

My back hurt

To ease the pain

I lay on a bed of peat

Propped my head in my hands

Looked around

Two golden butterflies danced above me

Grasshoppers clicked the stubble

A lark sang

A frog bounced over me

A spider poured silver on my face

A bee fired the heather

I returned to work

Leaving the sounds to themselves.
