I watch a young Robin

I watch a young Robin

Blessing its newness

Unmarked bird

Balancing its wings

Into a temperament of joy

Delirious in its wild excitement

To be here resting on a bow

Covered by green leaves

Carrying on an everlasting ritual

Preparing to drop into the unknown

I breathe that chirpy sound

and look forward to October

When the song is complete

And the redbreast sooth us into winter.
