I MET A SNAIL IN THE

I MET A SNAIL

In the wood

Carrying its house on its back

I knocked at the door

Its head popped out

Its horns angling for a fight

Then it wound its face into a circle

Craning its head

Asking who is there

Its eyes lit on me

The long stare

Wondering who I was

And what I wanted

Then looked at me

Winked

Took in its horns

And went back inside
