O THE SPRING OF IT ALL

O the spring of it all,
Whitethorn and Cherry blossom,
Riotous elder,
Painting the hedges green,
Daffodil befriending the dandelion,
Like children, they play together,
But soon the dandelion will spread.

THE CHIROPRACTOR

His back ached

Terrble pain

Went to the Chiropractor

Neill ec Michell

His surgery was packed

Out side the door

A bullock and a Race horse

Waited for treatment

He took them in order

Three lads held the bullocks head

He gave it a quck thud

Then onto the Racehorse

The same treatment

And then to my friend

All were treated equally.

HE GAVE UP FAGS FOR LENT

HE GAVE UP FAGS FOR LENT

HE BEGAN ON ASH WEDNESDAY

THAT IS TODAY

HE GOT THROUGH THE MORNING

AT TWELVE

HE TOOK A PULL FROM A FRIEND

AT ONE

JUST ANOTHER PULL FROM ANOTHER FRIEND

AND AT TWO

HE WAS BACK SMOKING

TWENTY A DAY.

I met a man the other day

I met a man the other day

He was talking to himself

Working a problem loudly

He saw me

Hello Timmy

Telling me

He was working a historical moment

Where he became the hero

I watched the last apple

I watched the last apple
On our apple tree
It stood there green and resolute
In the midst of the desolate
All December
They had been pushed
And pushed

And just now it gave up the ghost

And fell.

A blackbird frightened the hedge into silence

A blackbird

Frightened the hedge into silence

Its mate shivering with expectation

In an hour

They will make love

Build their nests

And prepare for the next generation

The leaves carpet my feet with silence

The leaves carpet my feet with silence

For each step is a move into the magnificence of quiet

I break a twig

And send everything into pandemonium

A moment

Changes everything

The moon om my left

The moon om my left

Waiting to be glimpsed

Yawns everywhere

Crows surveying the trees

I walk hypnozied

Under dark branches

That tap the moring sky.

SINGING BLACKBIRD

BLACKBIRD

SITTING IN AN OPEN TREE

Amid the buds of green

SINGING

JUST FOR YOU AND ME

HE STOLE INSIDE MY MIND

 HE STOLE INSIDE MY MIND

LOOKED AROUND

TRYING TO FIND

WHAT I AM

 BUT I AM

WHAT I AM

AND HE WILL NEVER KNOW

WHAT MAKES MY MIND BLOOM AND GROW

I STOPPED HIM AT THE DOOR

AS HE TRIED TO STEAL SOME  MORE

I PUT A MOUSE TRAP EVERYWHERE

AS HE PICKED MY BLOSSOM AND MY CARE

AND I I STOPPED HIM WITH A DARE

LEFT HIM CONFUSED

AND GOING NOWHERE.
