I WAS A CHILD IN THESE WOODS

I was a child in these woods

I was a child in these woods

Made daisy chains

Picked cowslips

In the woods, we played

Cowboys and Indians

I was Tom Mix

The good guy

Fished the canalĀ

Dived from the lock

Swam in the canal

Played horses in the Knox

Skated the Moat

Blew Love me Love me knots

Sang by heart the daily prayer

Daily Daily Sing To Mary

Now I walk where we raced boxes

Pick the blackberry

And admire the chestnut tree.
